A Two-Day Innovation Champions (ICs) Refresher Workshop was organised at Islamia Public School, Leh, on 20–21 July 2026, with 53 Innovation Champions from Leh and Kargil participating. The workshop was facilitated by Md Taquee, Pankaj Yadav, Shivani Pulse, Sujeet Gonda, and the DIET Team. The programme was conducted through the collaborative efforts of iRISE, IISER Pune, DIET Leh, and the STEM Innovation Kit.
The primary objective of the workshop was to refresh and strengthen teachers’ capacities in inquiry-based and activity-oriented teaching, enhance the effective use of the Innovation Champion Kit, and support teachers in integrating hands-on science and mathematics activities into regular classroom practice. The workshop also provided a platform for participants to reflect on their previous cascade training, share classroom experiences and best practices, and develop practical strategies for strengthening the cascade model across Leh and Kargil.
The workshop featured interactive sessions on science and mathematics activities, microscopy, chemistry, electronics, the new NCERT textbook approach, and classroom implementation of the cascade model. Teachers participated in demonstrations, hands-on activities, group discussions and collaborative learning exercises. They explored activities connected to textbook concepts and discussed practical strategies for lesson planning, student engagement and effective classroom implementation.
The formal inauguration was attended by Ms. Bhanu Prabha, Secretary, Department of School Education, UT Ladakh; Sh. S.D. Namgail, Principal, DIET Leh; and Smt. Tsering Yangdol, HOD, DIET Leh. Ms. Bhanu Prabha appreciated the collaborative efforts towards strengthening science and mathematics education and encouraged teachers to use the IC Kits effectively. A key highlight was the distribution of IC Kits to all participating Innovation Champions, with symbolic kits presented to representatives from Leh and Kargil.
The workshop concluded with renewed commitment from teachers to implement hands-on, experiential learning in classrooms and strengthen the cascade model across Leh and Kargil
