A three-day Innovation Champions’ Kit-Based Workshop was organised from 17 to 19 August 2026 in collaboration with iRISE, IISER Pune and JEPC, Ranchi, with the participation of 61 Innovation Champions from across Jharkhand at ARTTC , BSNL campus Ranchi.The workshop focused on strengthening teachers’ capacity to use the Innovation Champions’ (IC) Kit for hands-on, curriculum-aligned teaching and project-based learning.
The IC Kit contains 150+ hands-on activities covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Electronics and Innovation. The workshop began with a focus group discussion in which teachers reflected on their experiences during the district-level cascade workshops and shared their learnings on peer learning, innovative pedagogy and hands-on classroom activities.Teachers were introduced to the complete IC Kit and explored how its materials could be used to design activities connected with their curriculum.
The sessions provided opportunities for experiential learning across disciplines. In Biology, teachers constructed a paper microscope and explored the principles of microscopy. In Mathematics, storytelling and gamification were used to explore coordinate geometry, supported by GeoGebra, while connecting concepts with applications such as navigation, GPS, computer graphics and AI.The Micro-scale Chemistry session introduced teachers to 70+ experiments, with participants performing selected experiments and comparing predicted and observed results. Physics sessions explored light and optics using an Optics Box, simulations and case studies related to the human eye and vision defects. Innovation sessions focused on Project-Based Learning, ideation, prototyping and electronics, including the use of Tinkercad to design circuits and sensor-based projects.
During the valedictory session, Dr. Avinav Kumar, State Project Officer, encouraged teachers to implement the IC Kit in their classrooms and mentor at least four peer teachers in their districts. He also highlighted the importance of continued technical support through the iRISE CMS portal and proposed a future state-level project exhibition, providing teachers and students an opportunity to showcase innovative projects.
